About the plant
Rotala rotundifolia means the round-leaved plant, but its round leaves belong to the form above water. Underwater, this South-East Asian species instead develops narrow, elongated leaves on stems 15–30 cm long. It is more forgiving than many other Rotala and readily branches into a compact, bushy group. Good light brings out warm red tones, making it a useful bridge between green and intensely red plants.
Planting and care
Provide good light, steady nutrition and added CO2 for dense growth and clearer red colour. Trim frequently so light reaches the lower leaves, and replant the tops to rejuvenate the group.
