Welcome to the Tuskwood.com. Tuskwood is run by me, Joel Andersson. I have spent many years in aquarium and aquascaping, and my biggest passion is creating beautiful hardscapes.
We specialise in offering nature's own works of art: mineralised wood, Bogwood.

Our history and vision

One day I was walking my dog across a local bog, and wondered about the roots coming up, thinking they were quite similar to the tropical roots I had sometimes bought for my aquarium. I contacted various landowners who practise nature farming, and yes, in nature farming on the bog, a limited number of ancient roots come up every year from the depths of the bog. I also learnt that the aquarium hobby has a long tradition of using these bogwood roots in aquascaping. When we first came to the bog, we could see that many roots were broken, crushed, fractured or otherwise unsuitable for aquascaping, but, we have had the privilege of regularly entering the relevant peat bogs, and selecting the best that comes up. Nowadays, we have exclusive agreements with relevant landowners in Sweden. We have done many tests with the roots in various aquariums and sold many via Tradera since 2024, and via our website and webshop which we launched in December 2025.
With local collection, sorting, cutting, storage and packing, we reduce the transport of wood to the aquarium from countries in the Far East and Africa, thus reducing the environmental impact, Tuskwood is simply a very sustainable choice. Our ambition is to contribute to society by keeping all operations local and creating local jobs, especially for vulnerable people far from the labour market, in Sweden's economically vulnerable rural areas.

As a business, Tuskwood is very small, a sole trader, a hobby, an expense rather than a source of income. There is a dream to slowly but surely build up stable sales and a functioning hobby business with a reasonable profitability, providing jobs to those who need it most.
It is also a dream of a better aquascaping wood from Europe for Europe. An aquascaping wood that carries an incredible history and brings a unique story to every aquarium it becomes a part of. Tuskwood, roots that touch.

We run Tuskwood in our spare time, from Älmhult in the heart of Småland, a region known for its craft tradition and proximity to nature. For us, honesty, long-term thinking and reliability are the cornerstones of our relationship with you as a customer.
