About the plant
Ceratophyllum demersum, known as hornwort, is a rootless aquatic plant that can float freely or be anchored in the aquarium substrate. Its stems can grow up to about 80 cm long and 5 cm wide. The closely spaced leaves and many side shoots give the plant a compact, lush appearance. This form is robust, less prone to breaking than many other Ceratophyllum forms, and works well as a fast-growing background plant or temporary helper plant in a newly set-up aquarium.
Planting and care
Let the plant float or gently anchor the stems in the substrate. Trim long shoots when they begin to cast shade, and use healthy tops to rejuvenate the group.
