A unique piece of Scandinavian bogwood, naturally preserved in peat over hundreds to thousands of years. This is a real eye-catcher and works perfectly as an aquarium root in aquascape and aquarium.
It is a unique root, and it is exactly the root in the photo you are buying. What you see is what you get, WYSIWYG.
Description of the nature of the root
This Tuskwood root (P242621) has a distinctive shape with a central, slightly tuberous base from which two main branches extend upwards, forming an open U-shape. A side branch extends out to the right and bends slightly.
Aquarium style suggestions and planting ideas
Its structure offers good attachment points for aquarium plants such as Anubias, Bucephalandra and Java fern. Mosses can be attached to the finer branches to create a natural feel. The open shape can also frame lower plants such as Cryptocoryne or provide space for swimming fish. Suitable for scapes where you want a clear vertical accent with natural branching, possibly with taller Vallisneria in the background to complement the height.
Dimensions of the root
- Length: 35cm

Advantages of Tuskwood
- Genuine mineralised bogwood / moss wood
- Long life span
- Normally no biofilm or mucus formation
- Works in both hard and soft water
- Reliable sinking ability, normally sinking within 2-4 weeks
- Naturally beautiful colour tones in dark brown with a slightly reddish tinge under water
Unlike regular spiderwood, manzanita, mangrove or Malaysian driftwood, Tuskwood comes from Europe and has formed naturally in Nordic peatlands. The mineralisation and impregnation of humus makes the wood durable and beautiful.
Tuskwood slowly releases natural humic substances that support fish health. However, the impact on the colour of the water is minimal and usually not noticeable.
- Stable and mild release of humus
- Positive for the well-being of fish
- Spleen antimicrobial
A more sustainable choice
Much of the wood sold for aquascaping comes from tropical forests in Asia and is shipped halfway around the world.
Tuskwood is a Nordic natural material, collected locally as a by-product of other natural uses. This makes it a more sustainable choice, without tropical unregulated logging, mangrove destruction or undignified labour conditions. Tuskwood stands for minimal transportation and the promotion of local economy and jobs.
