About the plant
Cryptocoryne crispatula var. balansae comes from limestone areas of southern Thailand, where the water can be very hard. Its long, narrow leaves reach around 20–60 cm and can lie decoratively along the water surface from the back of the aquarium. Leaf colour ranges from fully green to chestnut brown, while the 15–20 cm-wide rosette creates a clear vertical rhythm. It is not especially demanding, but needs time to adapt after planting.
Planting and care
Place the rosette in the background with nutrient-rich substrate and good light. Leave it undisturbed while it establishes; growth only takes off once the plant has adapted.
