About the plant
Hydrocotyle tripartita, often called 'Japan', is a South-East Asian plant with small, intensely green leaves on upright stems. It grows quickly but compactly and can form a dense, lively carpet around 5–10 cm tall. It suits the foreground, spaces between stones or as a green veil over lower hardscape. Its rapid growth makes it easy to shape but calls for regular attention.
Planting and care
Provide good light for compact growth, and gently press the carpet down during maintenance to prevent it lifting. Trim protruding shoots and replant them where the carpet needs filling out.
