About the plant
Mayaca fluviatilis is a stem plant from South and Central America. Its very soft, flexible stems and narrow light-green leaves give the group a light and graceful appearance. The plant branches readily, grows quickly and therefore needs regular pruning. It prefers soft, slightly acidic water but can also thrive in moderately hard water. Very pale new shoots can indicate iron deficiency.
Planting and care
Remove the anchor, divide the bunch and strip the leaves from the bottom approximately 5 cm of each stem. Plant with space between them. Provide consistent nutrients and added CO2, prune often and replant healthy tops for a dense group.
Important for shrimp and sensitive animals
Bundled plants are not currently produced in Tropica’s own nursery and therefore cannot be guaranteed free from pesticides. Do not place them directly in an aquarium with shrimp or other sensitive animals. Tropica recommends keeping the plants separately for two weeks, with water changes twice a week.
