Unique product P012620
A unique piece of Scandinavian bogwood, naturally preserved in peat over hundreds to thousands of years. This is a real eye-catcher and works perfectly as an aquarium root in aquascape and aquarium.
It is a unique root, and it is exactly the root in the photo you are buying. You buy exactly the root shown in the pictures, WYSIWYG.
Description of the nature of the root
This Tuskwood root has a sturdy and stable base that branches out into several winding, gnarled branches stretching upwards. Its natural, weathered appearance lends an authentic feel to the aquarium.
Aquarium style suggestions and planting ideas
The shape of the root makes it ideal for adding height and structure to the aquarium, either as a central focal point or as part of a larger arrangement. The numerous surfaces and branches are excellent for attaching epiphytic plants such as Anubias, Bucephalandra and Java fern, as well as various mosses. Cryptocoryne species can be planted around the base to soften the transition to the substrate. The upward-growing branches can be complemented with taller background plants such as Vallisneria to enhance the vertical effect.

Advantages of Tuskwood
- Genuine mineralised bogwood / moss wood
- Long life span
- Normally no biofilm or mucus formation
- Works in both hard and soft water
- Reliable sinking ability, normally sinking within 2-4 weeks
- Naturally beautiful colour tones in dark brown with a slightly reddish tinge under water
Unlike regular spiderwood, manzanita, mangrove or Malaysian driftwood, Tuskwood comes from Europe and has formed naturally in Nordic peatlands. The mineralisation and impregnation of humus makes the wood durable and beautiful.
Tuskwood slowly releases natural humic substances that support fish health. However, the impact on the colour of the water is minimal and usually not noticeable.
- Stable and mild release of humus
- Positive for the well-being of fish
- Spleen antimicrobial
A more sustainable choice
Much of the wood sold for aquascaping comes from tropical forests in Asia and is shipped halfway around the world.
Tuskwood is a Nordic natural material, collected locally as a by-product of other natural uses. This makes it a more sustainable choice, without tropical unregulated logging, mangrove destruction or undignified labour conditions. Tuskwood stands for minimal transportation and the promotion of local economy and jobs.
