Unique product P292618
A unique piece of Scandinavian bogwood, naturally preserved in peat over hundreds to thousands of years. This is a real eye-catcher and works perfectly as an aquarium root in aquascape and aquarium.
It is a unique root, and it is exactly the root in the photo you are buying. What you see is what you get, WYSIWYG.
Description of the nature of the root
A very detailed showpiece root with a central stem and extensive fine branching. It has an almost bonsai-like structure with many small branches and clear, flowing surface, making it one of the most expressive roots in the batch.
Aquarium style suggestions and planting ideas
Very well suited for mature jungle, Ryuboku and Nature Aquarium where it can serve as the main structure. The many branches are suitable for moss, Bucephalandra, small Anubias and fine-leaved Java fern. Combine with Cryptocoryne, Rotala, Hygrophila and Vallisneria in the background for a real grown-up look, but leave parts of the branches open so that the silhouette is visible.
Dimensions of the root
- Length: 56cm
- Height: 52 cm
- Depth: 11 cm
Proposed aquarium format and size
At 56 cm in length and a full 52 cm in height, it is best suited to aquariums from around 90 cm, preferably with good height. It acts as a clear eye-catcher and should be given visual space around it.
Advantages of Tuskwood
- Genuine mineralised bogwood / moss wood
- Long life span
- Normally no biofilm or mucus formation
- Works in both hard and soft water
- Reliable sinking ability, normally sinking within 2-4 weeks
- Naturally beautiful colour tones in dark brown with a slightly reddish tinge under water
Unlike regular spiderwood, manzanita, mangrove or Malaysian driftwood, Tuskwood comes from Europe and has formed naturally in Nordic peatlands. The mineralisation and impregnation of humus makes the wood durable and beautiful.
Tuskwood slowly releases natural humic substances that support fish health. However, the impact on the colour of the water is minimal and usually not noticeable.
- Stable and mild release of humus
- Positive for the well-being of fish
- Spleen antimicrobial
A more sustainable choice
Much of the wood sold for aquascaping comes from tropical forests in Asia and is shipped halfway around the world.
Tuskwood is a Nordic natural material, collected locally as a by-product of other natural uses. This makes it a more sustainable choice, without tropical unregulated logging, mangrove destruction or undignified labour conditions. Tuskwood stands for minimal transportation and the promotion of local economy and jobs.
