Benefits of Tuskwood
-
Genuine mineralised bogwood / bog wood
-
Long lifespan
-
Normally no biofilm or slime formation
-
Works in both hard and soft water
-
Naturally beautiful reddish-brown tones underwater
Unlike ordinary spiderwood, manzanita, mangrove or Malaysian driftwood, Tuskwood comes from Europe and formed naturally in Nordic peatlands. Mineralisation makes the wood durable and gives it naturally dark colours and shapes reminiscent of roots from an old riverbank or flooded forest.
Tuskwood slowly releases natural tannins that support fish health. However, the effect on water colour is minimal and usually not noticeable.
✔ stable, gentle tannin release
✔ supports fish wellbeing
✔ Mildly antimicrobial
Much of the wood sold for aquascaping comes from tropical forests in Asia and is shipped halfway around the globe.
Tuskwood is a Nordic natural material, collected locally as a by-product of other land use, making it a more sustainable choice without tropical deforestation or poor working conditions, while minimising transport and supporting the local economy and jobs.
