About the plant
Blyxa japonica comes from nutrient-rich shallow waters, wetlands and slow-moving waterways in East and South-East Asia. It became well known through Takashi Amano’s aquascapes during the 1990s. Its dense, grass-like leaves move gently in the aquarium current, creating a living dynamism unlike more rigid rosette plants. It works well as a soft transition between a low foreground and taller planting.
Planting and care
Plant small groups in nutrient-rich substrate and give them even light, nutrition and stable conditions. Gentle water movement highlights the flowing growth habit.
