About the plant
Micranthemum callitrichoides 'Cuba' is one of the world’s smallest aquarium plants, creeping across the substrate with round leaves only a few millimetres wide. It is a classic foreground plant in small and Japanese-inspired aquascapes, and can quickly grow into a very dense green carpet. In good conditions, tiny oxygen bubbles often collect on the leaves, giving the surface a lively, sparkling appearance. The species was discovered in Cuba, west of Havana.
Planting and care
Plant small clumps a few centimetres apart. Provide strong light, stable CO2, good circulation and even fertilisation. Trim the carpet regularly so the lower parts are not shaded and lost.
