About the plant
Micranthemum callitrichoides 'Cuba' is one of the world's smallest aquarium plants. Its millimetre-sized round leaves creep along the bottom and can create an exceptionally fine, dense green carpet, especially effective in smaller aquariums. Under good conditions, small oxygen bubbles often collect on top of the carpet and give the surface a lively appearance. The species was found in Cuba west of Havana and is beautiful, but considerably more demanding than Micranthemum 'Monte Carlo'.
Planting and care
Plant very small clumps a few centimetres apart and provide strong light, stable CO2, good circulation and steady fertilisation. Trim the carpet regularly so the lower parts are not shaded and do not die off.
