About the plant
Hygrophila lancea 'Araguaia' is named after a Brazilian river, but is thought to originate from Japan and Hong Kong. Its closely spaced leaves give the 10–20 cm stems a compact appearance, and the plant branches readily. In good conditions, its colour develops from reddish brown to purple, creating a warm contrast with green plants. Growth is moderate, and the group can be shaped into a distinct low bush.
Planting and care
Pinch or cut the tops to stimulate branching and retain a dense form. Good light and stable conditions bring out the purple tones.
