About the plant
Pogostemon stellatus from Asia and Australia is one of the most expressive stem plants, with beautiful form and colour on shoots 20–60 cm high. Plants in shops are often low and compact after being grown above water, and only reveal their full splendour once they have adapted to the aquarium. The species is difficult to grow and can sometimes stop growing even when conditions seem favourable. When it thrives, however, a group becomes a highly exclusive focal point.
Planting and care
Provide intense light, stable CO2 and regular micronutrients. Pale leaves often signal a lack of micronutrients; keep water values and fertilisation consistent and avoid sudden changes.
