About the plant
Ammannia crassicaulis is a beautiful African stem plant with reddish-brown, cognac-coloured leaves and distinctly yellow-green stems. It grows to around 30–50 cm high and 8–15 cm wide, creating a warm, powerful splash of colour in the midground. The plant thrives best in soft, slightly acidic water and needs plenty of light to retain leaves all the way down. When cared for correctly, it becomes an exclusive focal point among fresh green plants.
Planting and care
Provide strong light, stable CO2 and consistent nutrients in soft, slightly acidic water. Make sure the light reaches the lower leaves, otherwise they will fall off. Propagate by replanting side shoots or cut tops.
