About the plant
Anubias barteri var. nana is a small, attractive and very hardy plant from Cameroon. It grows to around 5–10 cm high, and its creeping rhizome can eventually reach 10–15 cm or more. Growth is slow, but the leaves live for several years and create a stable dark-green structure in the aquarium. It also thrives in shaded positions, can flower underwater and is normally left alone by herbivorous fish.
Planting and care
Attach the plant to stone or wood until it has anchored itself. If the roots are planted in substrate, the rhizome must remain free or it may rot. Avoid unnecessarily strong light, as the long-lived leaves readily collect algae.
