About the plant
Hygrophila difformis is an easy-care, fast-growing stem plant from Asia. It suits beginners well and works as a supplementary or background plant. Its rapid growth removes plenty of nutrients from the water and can therefore help counter algae. The characteristic lobed leaves gradually form a lush, distinct group, particularly in larger aquariums. It usually grows 20–30 cm high and 6–12 cm wide.
Planting and care
Plant divided portions a little apart and trim the tops when the group needs to remain dense. Pale leaves can indicate a micronutrient deficiency.
