About the plant
Microsorum pteropus, Java fern, is a robust Asian aquatic fern that reaches around 15–30 cm high. It naturally grows attached to stone and wood and gradually creates a steady green structure in the midground. The plant tolerates a wide range of aquarium conditions and is easy to divide once the stand has matured. Black dots on the leaf undersides are sporangia, the plant’s reproductive organs, not a sign of disease.
Planting and care
Attach the rhizome to stone or wood with fine line until it has anchored itself. If the plant is placed at the bottom, its rhizome must not be covered, as it may rot. Propagate by dividing the rhizome.
