About the plant
Bacopa australis was discovered in southern Brazil; the name australis means southern and does not refer to Australia. The stems grow to around 10–30 cm high and 2–4 cm wide. The plant is easy to grow and, under the right conditions, can creep along the bottom to form a soft, light green cushion. In good light, the leaves develop warmer red tones that add further depth to the group.
Planting and care
Provide good light, consistent nutrients and added CO2 for low, dense growth and clearer colour. Propagate easily by cutting off side shoots and planting them in the substrate.
