About the plant
Cryptocoryne usteriana is among the taller Cryptocoryne species and is also very easy to grow. Its 3–5 cm wide leaves have a distinctly textured surface and can grow over 50 cm long. With good light and fertilisation, the upper surface develops a dark green to bronze-green colour, while the underside becomes wine red. The vigorous rosette gives the background both structure and subtle colour depth.
Planting and care
Plant in nutrient-rich substrate and allow plenty of space. The plant spreads via long runners and also tolerates fairly alkaline water; thin out new plants if the group spreads too far.
