About the plant

Rotala rotundifolia 'Blood Red' is the most intensely red variety of Rotala rotundifolia. Its colour is especially striking when planted beside light green plants. The stems grow upright to gently arching and branch readily into a full group. The plant can manage with relatively moderate light and nutrients, but shows its true depth of colour only when conditions are very good.

Planting and care

Provide plenty of light and added CO2 for the deepest red colour. Trim the group regularly so light and water flow reach between the stems, and replant good top shoots as needed.
