Nymphaea lotus – pot

About the plant

Nymphaea lotus, tiger lotus, is a beautiful and varied water lily from West Africa. Its leaves range from green to reddish-brown and bear varying amounts of purplish spots. Before it begins producing floating leaves, it develops many decorative submerged leaves and can grow 20–80 cm tall. In an open aquarium, its large, fragrant flowers can truly come into their own. It is best suited as a solitary focal point in a larger aquarium.

Planting and care

Plant the bulb in a nutrient-rich substrate. If you wish to retain its submerged form, floating leaves and parts of the root system can be pruned; leave plenty of space around the plant.
