About the plant
Rotala macrandra is one of the most colourful aquarium stem plants and can create a brilliant red focal point in the midground. This variety is somewhat easier to grow than Rotala macrandra 'Japan', while still developing very strong colour. In stable conditions, it rewards you with broad, soft leaves in shades from red to pink-red, but responds quickly when light, CO2 or water quality is inadequate.
Planting and care
Provide very strong light, stable, plentiful CO2 and soft water; all three are important for good growth and intense colour. Cut the longest stems 5–10 cm above the bottom and replant the tops in the group.
